Take note guys!

According to announcements made on the banks’ social media accounts, the reimposition of the RM1 Malaysian Electronic Payment System interbank ATM withdrawal fee will be starting 1st February 2022 (TODAY).

In April 2021, the government waived the levy to ease Malaysians’ financial burden during the Movement Control Order period, while also allowing them to access financial services supplied by these machines without traveling too far outside the previously set bounds, stated FMT.

Starting from 1 February 2022, the ATM interbank cash withdrawal fee of RM1.00 will be reinstated. Maybank customers can continue to perform cash withdrawal transactions at Maybank’s ATM for free*. Info: https://t.co/NSXArsSJGu

Besides that, netizens been constantly responding by stating that the RM 1 charge would cause people return to a long queues at ATMs at the certain banking facilities. Every RM1 paid through MEPS is allocated to Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet), which is known as one of the largest stakeholder, Malaysian central bank, Bank Negara.
