The much-awaited celebrations of Maha Shivratri, “The Great Night of Shiva”, has finally arrived and the devotees of Lord Shiva are all set to observe the Maha Shivratri vrat. This year Maha Shivratri will fall on Tuesday (March 1).
However, in view of the COVID-19 and Omicron outbreak, the Minister of National Unity Malaysia has issued multiple restrictions and guidelines to ensure the safety of the devotees offering prayers on Maha Shivratri celebrations.

Let us delve into the auspicious times for worship in four stages:
First phase worship – March 1 from 6.21 pm to 9.27 pm
Worship of the second phase – March 1 from 9.27 pm to 12.33 pm
Worship of the third phase – on March 2 from 12:33 pm to 3.39 pm
The fourth phase of worship – March 2 from 3:39 am to 6:45 am
Though Shivratri comes every month, Maha Shivratri, the “Grand Night” dedicated to the destroyer of evil, comes only once a year.
Management at the temple should ensure that the premises are disinfected and COVID-19 norms such as social distancing and use of masks is mandatory. It’s advisable to check the standard operating procedures (SOPs) which is set by the temple management. Let’s join the MySJ Trace community to keep each other safe.
