Malaysian karate exponent Prem Kumar Selvam has bagged two gold medals at the 40th National Senior Karate Championship (Individual and Team) recently.
The 28-year-old karateka is among the athletes that have done us proud, taking Malaysia all the way to the world stage and showing everyone that we can stand and compete with the best. His first major tournament was at the Malaysian Games (Sukma). Since then he has begun to compete for both national and international level competitions.
Previously, the Malaysian Karateka had won a gold medal in the men’s kumite 55kg event at the 2019 SEA Games, as well as the bronze medal for the same event at the 2019 Asian Karate Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Hailing from a middle-class family of six, Prem followed his elder brother’s footsteps when taking up karate. Neither of his parents nor his other siblings have ever taken up martial arts.
Prem’s achievements aren’t a small feat. Keep soaring higher, this is awesome!
