‘Big Stage Tamil’; A Local Reality Singing Competition All Set For Its Astro Premiere

Are you the next 'Big Stage Idol'?

As a spin-off to the popular American show, ‘American Idol’, Astro is all set to premiere its reality singing competition aptly titled, Big Stage Tamil. Themed #TheTurningPoint, the show aspires to develop new local talent and inspire more young singers to chase their dreams through this platform.

The highly anticipated show will be aired on 12 March at 9pm on Astro Vinmeen (Ch 202) via TV, Astro GO and On Demand.  

Prem Anand, Vice President, Indian Customer Business, Astro, stated;

“We are excited to introduce Big Stage Tamil, our original Tamil show as we continue to raise the standards of our local productions and expand on our content slate for customers. Taking into account the success of the original Big Stage concept, we are confident that this adaptation will meet the demands of our audiences and young talents for a high-quality local singing competition. We congratulate all contestants and hope our customers enjoy this new show.”

The show is all set to kick off with the ever talented hosts Ahila (RAAGA) and Vicky, and bound to captivate viewers with the intense competition among eleven contestants: Pavitren Subramaniam, Kanniyaashree Kannan, Harieharan C Gangkathran, Sasitharan Rajendran, Vetha Naveenaa Paremeswaran, Arulini Arumugam, Thanushan Jayakumar, Roshini Balachandran, Jeevanraj Venugopal, Vetha Shahana Paremeswaran Naidu, and Swetha Nair Krishnakumar.

Over an 8 week span, contestants will be guided by notable judges from the local music industry including singers, Dr Burn and Punitha Raja, former RAAGA announcer and artiste, Ram, as well as music composer, Shameshan Mani Maran. 

With years of experience and expertise to offer, these judges will push contestants to strive harder and challenge themselves to achieve higher performance standards during the course of the competition. Winners of the competition will get the chance of winning a whooping RM30,000 for first place, RM 15,000 for second place, as well as consolation prizes of RM5,000 each.
