To date in Malaysia, the number of Natheswaram and Thavil artists is gradually decreasing. On the other hand, due to the rising number of divine occasions, the demand for Natheswaram and Thavil artists is high.
In this regard, Persatuan Seniman Natheswaram Dan Thavil Bersatu Malaysia (PSNTBM) is on a mandate to produce professional traditional instrument players in Malaysia.
With that, PSNTBM will be launching ‘Natheswara Thavil Isai Fine Arts Academy’ this coming Saturday, 30th of April at the Galaxy Banquet Hall HGH Convention Centre, Sentul. From 6.30pm to 7pm there will be an exhibition about Natheswara Thavil and the show will formally start from 7pm onwards. You will be witnessing a visual-melody treat throughout the launch.
The inauguration is anticipated to be joined by Human Resources Minister M. Saravanan and the High Commissioner of India, B.N. Reddy.
Speaking to Varnam, the association’s president Ganesan Arumugam Pillay, PSNTBM said the primary purpose of this academy is to train, develop, improve and educate new talents to learn this Manggala Isai systematically whilst being accredited and recognised by relevant authorities and government bodies.
“Besides that, the academy will also uplift the Indian community, strengthen our culture, improve spiritual connection, and generate new career prospects,” he said.
This academy will also be affiliated with the legendary Chennai Tamil Isai Sangam, which has been standing still in India for 75 years, and Malaysia will be the first country outside of India to have a specialised Natheswaram academy. With this great affiliating, this academy will practise the same syllabus, teaching skills, and certifications.
“Furthermore, connection with a respected organisation will be an excellent way to propagate Tamil Isai among our people,” Mr Ganesan continues.
By joining this academy, these students will be getting a world-recognised certificate. This will also provide them with the ability to expand their employment opportunities. If the student is remarkably talented and shines among the others, he/she will be getting the opportunity to travel and perform internationally, such as on a global tour.
According to Mr Ganesan, the lessons will be held in the Ceylon Tamils’ Kalavirthy Sangam’s office in Jalan Imbi.
The registration will also start to take place from the launch. If you are unable to attend the inauguration, please contact the person in charge mentioned below to get a registration form through email.
