Being an outstanding student is no easy feat!
Hailing from Penang, Kirtanaashini Sivakumar is all set to embark on the American Leadership Experience (ALEX) exchange program. Indeed a great headstart for the young prodigy!
The Form 5 student who is currently studying at SMK Tinggi Bukit Mertajam, will spend two weeks in the US with her peers to enhance their leadership skills and explore volunteerism, diversity, and civic engagement in the states of Minnesota and Washington D.C.
Having said that, the local programme will kickstart from the 11th till 17th July, where the student participants will travel to Washington D.C for a weeklong orientation before departing back to their home country. Upon their return home, the students are required to apply what they have learned in order to implement and execute projects that serve the needs in their respected field.
The ALEX exchange program is a two-week US-based exchange program for fully vetted and vaccinated 17-19 year-olds to the US who were unable to participate in the 2020/21 exchange program due to COVID travel restrictions. The mission of this exchange opportunities is to encourage broader understanding of the United States and its relationship with Malaysia through educational exchange.
Congratulations Kirtanaashini!
