World Environment Day 2022; There is Only One Earth For Us

Time is running out! We must start saving our Earth now.

On June 5th, annually, the world celebrates the World Environment Day. It is a day when we raise awareness about the environment and the importance of conserving it. It is critical to strive for a better environment and natural resource conservation.

This year’s campaign theme for World Environment Day is “Only One Earth”.

Every year, a different country hosts World Environment Day, as Sweden is hosting this year’s campaign “Stockholm+50” after fifty years. With the collaboration of The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other partners, a high level international gathering were held on June 2 and June 3, 2022, to emphasize most pressing ecological problems.

According to UNEP, the Earth is in the midst of major crisis such as people and wildlife are struggling to adapt to a changing climate, loss of habitat and other pressure mean have put an estimated of 1 million species at risk of extinction, and pollution continues to pollute the air, land and water.

They suggested way to get out of this bind is to reform economies and communities to make more inclusive, fair, and environmentally conscious, which, people must change themselves in order to stop damaging and start healing the world.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has released a practical handbook describing of the collaborative, transformative activities that governments, cities, corporations, organizations, and people can do to protect and restore the environment, with regards to the crisis.

It is simple, if we begin to the protect the environment now as future generations will be able to live longer and healthier lives. We need to stop being self centered use up all the resources mother nature has been giving us. We need to start protecting mother nature and teach the next generation to do the same.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was established in June 1972, resulted from the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. UNEP is the prominent environmental authority of United Nations system. It’s objective is to inspire, enlighten, and enable nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without jeopardizing the future generations by providing leadership and encouraging partnership in environmental protection.

These are 5 simple things you can do to protect Mother Earth:

  • Start planting trees.
  • Reduce the use of plastic bags.
  • Minimize the usage of water.
  • Do not litter and keep surrounding clean.
  • Save electricity usage.

Small things can make big difference. It is our duty to save our environment and let’s begin today.
