Good news to all commuters! A brand new MRT line has launched to ease our burden.

The first phase of the MRT Putrajaya Line was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday. The MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 which is also known as MRT 2, is made up of the entire Putrajaya Line and covers a 17.5km stretch consisting of 12 new stations.

Passengers from the MRT Kajang Line can switch to MRT Putrajaya Line seamlessly with the same level platform at Kwasa Damansara station and the following interchange between MRT Kajang Line and Putrajaya Line is at Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), which also allows seamless transfers.

These are the 12 brand new stations that will be operating soon;

✅ Stesen Kwasa Damansara
✅ Stesen Kampung Selamat
✅ Stesen Sungai Buloh
✅ Stesen Damansara Damai
✅ Stesen Sri Damansara Barat
✅ Stesen Sri Damansara Sentral
✅ Stesen Sri Damansara Timur
✅ Stesen Metro Prima
✅ Stesen Kepong Baru
✅ Stesen Jinjang
✅ Stesen Sri Delima
✅ Stesen Kampung Batu

Most of the stations are equipped with a park-and-ride facility. The exceptions are Kampung Selamat, Kepong Baru, Sri Delima and Kampung Batu.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd operation control centre head Zamri Talib said 14 trains would serve the route during peak hours. “During the off-peak time, there will be eight trains servicing the line in both directions,” he said during a media preview at the MRT Depot in Sungai Buloh.

In addition, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Ramli Shafie hopes that the new line would help alleviate traffic congestion in the city.
