Malaysian students have never failed to impress us for having traits like sheer determination when it involves academic achievement. We can see that in the myriad of exceptional achievements our kids have recently accomplished and elevated the nation’s name too.
Recently, a young lass (Tharini Ravindra Kumar) was conferred with the prestigious Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarship from the King.
According to the recent post shared by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam on their official Facebook page, his Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah lbni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah AI-Musta’in Billah bestowed 12 students with the prestigious Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarship at Istana Negara yesterday.
Tharini Ravindra Kumar is among the 12 outstanding recipients who were given the BYDPA honourable scholarship. This 24-year-old who is currently pursuing her studies in Genetic Science at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom was awarded this scholarship to pursue doctorate studies (PhD).
On the other hand, they have also stated that 8 of the recipients were awarded the scholarship to pursue doctorate studies (PhD), while the others were awarded to pursue Master degree programmes.
The other students who received the scholarship to pursue their PhDs are Nur Dini Fatini binti Mohammad Faizal (Pharmaceutical Science Research-UKM), Muhammad bin Mohamed Amin (Manufacturing Engineering-UKM), Nurfatihah Zulkifli (Biochemistry-UM), Syed Muhammad Iqbal Syed Othman (Plant Biotechnology-UKM), Nur Alia Afifah Zakaria (Chemistry-USM), Chai Jian Yi (Medical Science-UKM) and Soon Wan Chi (Chemical Engineering-USM).
While the recipients for the Master degree programmes are Omar Akbar Khan (Economy-London School of Economics), Toh Liang Su (Plant Science, UPM), Ain Nur Afifah Azman (Genetic Science-UKM) and Nursyamimi Ramli (Medical Science-UKM).
Previously, Mogesh Sababathy, Elancheleyen, and K. Sivasanghari had been conferred with this prestigious Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarship for their respective fields of studies.
Since its introduction in 2006, a total of 187 individuals have received the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarship to pursue their studies in the fields of Science and Technology, Economics, Law and Islamic Finance.
