9th July 2022, marked the reign of Malaysian Tamil Hip Hop scene!
Rap sobriquet Balan Kash held his ‘Terima Kasih’ album launch party at The Bee, Publika with a massive coup of overflowing homegrown talents, lit performances and unexpected surprises throughout the night.
Approximately at 7.45pm, the vast crowd noticeably started to enter the hall after obtaining their bright yellow entry wristband, which was on the whole, a seamless process, thanks to the team who handled it competently. At the entrance, there were a few booths set up selling limited edition merch as well as a classic photo booth.
By 8.20 pm we witnessed more than 400 people occupying the hall. And the launch started with the official host of the day Prakash Daniel, who is fondly known for his witty standup comedy. Huge kudos to Prakash for his jovial and lively hosting.
Wait No More, It’s Showtime!
[Act 1] Despite performing as the show’s first act, this young talented rapper Elcfer boldly seized the stage well incorporating some whistle-stop lyrical verses. To take on the stage as the first act definitely required some grit, but Elcfer did an excellent job. He performed a few numbers and everyone seemed to be infused with the energy that this man ceded to them. (Bro, where were you all this time? This man has a ton of talent to cement his place in the music industry.)
[Act 2] Next up, the trio of RMP Collective (Mark.Prosper, Gurkhali Macha, Black Yoda) barged in leading the stage with their finest track list by effortlessly spewing lines at a blazingly fast pace. Nithravidan also joined this trio delivering an amazing act.
[Act 3] Following that, another exceptional trio, The INC (Manneesh, Mavindblaze, Vrisnaan) immediately took charge. When these three lads made the appearance, all we could hear was loud cheers from the crowd. Donning their trademark black outfits with gleamy accessories, this trio performed their appealing tracklist and revealed their latest track too.
[Act 4] As the hit riled up, Enghe Port fame, Arunboii, joined the stage with The INC boys giving a huge surprise to everyone, not only through his powerful appearance but also with the huge announcement. They too, performed their new upcoming track which is set for release very soon. It was one catchy beat.
Arunboii also performed his popular hit track, in a snappy rap style.
The next act was DJ Uno, garnering a quick cheer check from the audience. He was a natural crowd puller though, everyone was enthusiastically saying ‘Hey and Ho’ while cheering for the man ‘Balan’.
[Act 5] Now, the man who goes by the name ‘Balan Kash’ made the grandeur arrival kicking off with his old school vibe full-fledged hip hop flair ‘Macha Magic’. Gotta say Balan was just dominating the stage with his charismatic performance. Followed that, the ruler of the show performed another lit track from his latest album, Thambi Yaare Raja, fit for a RAJA called Balan.
Subsequently, this proud Macha by birth also performed various hit tracks chaperoning with the ace DJ Uno.
One of the highlights of the show was THE ATTENDEES!
Balan! Balan! Balan! Balan! Balan! Everyone was hailing his name.

Balan’s name was brimming throughout the hall. (Woah, the crowd was just crazily lauding the humble guy’s name which was literally the major goosebump moment at the gig.)
Later, Santesh and Arunboii hopped on the stage with Balan delivering the Samba Rock track, Vaa Macha Vaa. Definitely, the crowd-puller as one of the audience was invited on the stage for the sing-along. The entire vibe for this track was absolutely phenomenal.
Nevertheless, he was showering everyone with words of wisdom, the words that have the wizardry to burgeon a person and the community.
[Act 6] DJ Pri2 took the deck, shuffling some great hot tracks. He pumped up the beat from Kalasala to some old-school tracks and kept the crowd’s energy peaking throughout.
Another unexpected collaboration was revealed. The recent heart-throbber, Amos Paul along with 2 other brilliant artists unveiled their upcoming track too. Curious about the other 2 artists? It wouldn’t be a surprise if we revealed everything right now, stay tuned to know about this incredible collaboration! (This piece was truly great, can’t wait for the release)
[Act 7] Out of nowhere, this guy jumped on the stage and the crowd went baffled for a sec and the next moment they went wild. Who else, other than Yung Raja. No one expected Yung Raja to be in Kuala Lumpur! A PLEASANT SURPRISE INDEED! With his overwhelming aura and inimitable Tanglish hip-hop, he ROCKED the stage especially with the super-catchy dope track ‘Mad Blessing’.
[Act 8] The superstar duo from Music Kitchen, Sid and Prem, have once again proved that they are 5-starred ratified performers. They served the 400+ pax crowd with fine music platter. The duo’s sizzled some bombastic EDMs and tracks on the decks that truly brought the party vibe together.
With Music Kitchen on the deck, Harvinth Skin conquered the crowd’s attention as soon as he stepped on stage. This man literally transformed into a BEAST mode. He was having the time of his life delivering great whopping performances and not rebuffing the crowd’s request, he also enthusiastically performed his most requested song ‘ADDI’ along with Roshan Jamrock.
Harvinth teamed up with Yung Raja to perform their brand new song together titled ‘Ok Da’. (Damn, the track was so good. You folks should definitely check this track out)
[Act 10] A raucous cheer erupted the moment K-town Clan plunged onto the stage. The ninjas from Kajang never ever disappoint their fans, kicking off with Dandgut vibe. The OGs slayed the stage with their popular hit track Give Em The Ughh!!! They also announced an exciting news to everyone by revealing that they’re prepping for a comeback, featuring a dose of crunk music.
[Special Appearances] Godfather of Tamil Hip Hop Yogi B made a special appearance by giving a shout-out to the whole team and of course the star of the show Balan Kash, as well as Rockaboy Sheezay too who came and drizzled the attendees with some facts and thoughtful words.
[Closing Act] The man himself, Balan Kash wrapped up the show well. The man who is known for his humbleness performed his hit single “Start That Thiruvizha”. It was undoubtedly a thiruvizha jamboree. That’s how you end the show!

It was a well-organised live show and kudos to the entire crew for all of their efforts leading up to the event. We are excited to see what they have in store in the forthcoming days. Glimpsing at the atmosphere from the start to the end of the show, the crowd seemed to be highly vibing to the act. (They were grooving, they were applauding, they were singing along, they were cheering)
