A friend will be there for you through all emotions—joy, grief, celebration, and sorrow. There are moments when we value our friends more than our blood relatives. Therefore, no one can say that they have never drawn a connection between their friendship and a friends-related movie. Of course, we did that!
Let’s take a look at some iconic friendship that were portrayed in Tamil films.
Friends (2001)
This masterpiece honors friendship in all of its purest forms. Am sure some of you would have definitely identified yourselves with the personas of Aravindhan (Vijay), Chandru (Surya), and Krishnamurthy (Ramesh Khanna). The plot revolves around childhood friends who prioritise their friendship and, even sacrificing their happiness. The same way as Nesamani (Vadivelu) makes us laugh till our stomachs hurt, these trios also made us cry.
Priyamana Thozhi (2003)
A film that is particularly popular among best friends of the opposite gender. In this film, Ashok (Madhavan) and Julie (Sridevi) depict very profoundly the relationship between a girl and a guy, and how it never fades even after their respective spouses enter their lives. It also shows a friendship that endures despite the fact that friendship between persons of different gender is taboo in society. Don’t bother the societal talks, Ashoks and Julies; just be genuine.
Nadodigal (2009)
There is always that one friend who becomes a relationship guru in any friendship. Similarly, this film centres around the trios Karunakaran, Paandi, and Chandran, who battle to unite their friends’ love and face a slew of consequences as a result of their action. Imagine your friend rescuing your love while the “Sambo Shiva Smabo” song plays in the background. So, who in your gang is Sasikumar (Karunakaran)?
Ullam Ketkume (2005)
If you’ve ever attended college or are now enrolled, you appreciate the excitement of hanging out with your buddies. Friends are there for us not only while we study, but also in all of life’s ups and downs. This captivating film is about five close friends, Arya, Shyam, Asin, Pooja, and Laila, who make you wish for a group of friends like theirs to make college life more fun!
Thalapathi (1991)
“Natpu-na enna teriyuma? Nanban-na enna teriyuma? Surya-na enna teriyuma?“, our friends often blab around us. The story revolves around Surya, the protagonist, who works for monster Devaraj, appointing him as commander and dramatically alters his life. The characters give a vivid portrayal of how two buddies would be able to stand up for one another in all situations. There are some worthy duos out there, but for most, having pals like Deva (Mammothy) and Surya (Rajnikanth) is still a pipe dream.
You must get a sense of nostalgia after reading the list above! Undoubtedly, your buddies fall into one of the aforementioned categories of friendship.
