Government Clinics and Hospitals To go Cashless From 1st October

In line with the Health Ministry anti-corruption plan and the Malaysia Digital Economic Blueprint 2021, all Ministry of Health (MOH) facilities, including clinics and hospitals nationwide, will be going cashless effective from 1st October 2022. The payments can be made through e-payment modes such as debit cards, credit cards, and e-wallets, Berita Harian reported.

To those who are not used to the new cashless payment mode, fret not as cash payments would still be allowed.

According to its secretary-general Harjeet Singh, the implementation of cashless payments throughout Malaysia at all MOHs facilities will bring many benefits, such as reducing the risk of loss of national revenue, improving the efficiency and security of collection, reducing the cost of collection, and reducing the risk of contracting coronary diseases.

Revenue collection will be faster, easier, and safer. In addition, there is a reduction in costs and work processes in revenue collection matters at the Pusat Tanggungjawab (PTJ) level and a reduction in the risk of COVID-19 infection at the payment counter due to the ‘contactless platform’. – Ministry Of Health 

Dr Dzulkefly has revealed that the data from the Ministry of Health (MoH) showed the number of paid patients at health clinics across Malaysia was 20.85 million in 2017, 20.84 million in 2018, and as of September 2019 at 15.58 million.

Having said that, the implementation of a cashless mode system can be quite convenient for all and it will be safer in terms of avoiding oneself from touching contaminated surfaces. What do you guys think about the new initiative?
