Meet Thilagavathi Arichanan, The Malaysian Rep For International Teacher Week Programme 2022 In Switzerland

Going miles to learn and return the knowledge gained is commendable.

In that regard, a dedicated teachers Thilagavathi Arichanan will be heading to Switzerland to attend the International Teacher Week Programme 2022 at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, which is one of the world’s largest research centres for particle physics.

The International Teacher Week Programme 2022 will take place from 31st July to 13th August 2022.

CERN’s International High-School Teacher Programme

This residential programme, which has taken place at CERN every July since 1998, is designed for science teachers from all around the world to discover the fascinating world of particle physics. The programme includes lectures, on-site visits, hands-on workshops, discussions and Q&A sessions. Moreover, during the three weeks, all teachers collaborate in several working groups on various topics related to particle physics and its integration into the classroom.

The teacher programmes are an acknowledgement on the importance of teachers and the critical role they play in preparing the future of humanity. It has inspired and empowered teachers and, through them, their pupils.

Thilagavathi Arichanan penned down to social media to convey the news and her gratefulness.

She conveyed her gratitude to the Ministry of Education, JPN Selangor and PPD Petaling Utama for giving her the opportunity to widen her horizons at CERN to represent Malaysia.

The 41-year-old expressed her gratitude to all the principles involved for supporting her initiatives and ideas, as well as to her mentor, teacher Norhailmi Abdul Mutalib, who was a vital support and mentor in enabling her to seize this opportunity. Further, she extends her gratitude to her family members and CUMIG members who have always been cheering her throughout her endeavours.

According to CUMIG, the teacher at SMK (P) Taman Petaling is also deemed as an ‘Excellent Teacher’ for Physics and she has also achieved myriad of honours in the field of teaching.

Congratulations teacher and we hope you will continue to inspire other teachers whilst maintaining teaching as a vocation to be proud of!
