The idea of getting out of bed before the sunrise makes many people unhappy. Ayurveda asserts that the opposite is true; that rising extremely early is one of the greatest methods to reduce anxiety and negative thinking, connect with nature, and improve sattva – mental clarity and positivity.

Elders in the family commonly awaken with the sun, or sometimes even earlier. They claim that it gives them more time during the day to carry out tasks and also gives them a sense of energy and harmony with cycles of nature.

Ancient Hindu sacred teachings state that one should awaken at the Brahma Muhurta.

What is Brahma Muhurta?

The early morning period known as Brahma Muhurta, which occurs exactly one and a half hours before sunrise, is considered by the sages to be an auspicious time for rising early. Brahma Muhurta, also known as the time of Brahma, is the holiest and most ideal time for meditation and devotion.

The Brahma Muhurta times fall between 4am to 6am.

The perks of rising early and matching one’s activities with the cycle of the sun are vast. At this moment, a powerful frequency of energy floods the area with inspiration, optimism, and serenity.

The optimal time to study is during Brahma Muhurta. The mind is like a blank piece of paper during this time of the day, and it can absorb information far more effectively than at any other time.

A fundamental shift in improved health, strength, and spiritual oomph will be felt by all who awaken at this time. The toxic, anxious, vexing, negative emotions are all pushed away; instead, people are often more contemptuous and have a more optimistic outlook on life.

Anti-aging effects

The aging process can be slowed down by synchronising our biological clock with the sun’s rising and setting. Also, it delays the sign of aging and its associated health risks.

Now you see why your elders always tell you to practice rising early. All of them not only teach you self-discipline but also provide you the opportunity to do this one thing that can greatly enrich your life.

Although adjusting to this new routine may seem difficult at first, once it becomes a habit, its hard to go the other way.
