If you’ve got the passion, then you’re able to conquer anything that you dream of.
Dr Thanussha Francis Xavier, who made the ironic juxtaposition from being a medical practitioner to leading a prominent role in the Malaysian political party last year, has recently been awarded the coveted Fulbright Scholarship.
This scholarship will fund this 31-year-old Master’s International Relations programme focusing on economics and political development at Columbia University in New York this September.
This vastly coveted Fulbright scholarship is awarded to deserving Malaysian scholars who have displayed exemplary skills and knowledge in their respective fields and area of study.
Thanussha, the former vice president of MUDA, emphasises her desire to make use of this opportunity to hone her political skills through this opportunity.
Hailing from Perak, she strongly believes that politics in Malaysia needs to be issue-based and policy-driven, with no interference of religious and racial rhetoric.
“My goal is to engage with other similar-minded groups to pilot Malaysia on this path,” she remarked. Besides, she also intends to continue empowering more women and marginalised communities in politics.
“The days of women and minority communities being sidelined needs to end,” quoted Thanussha.
Taking this to her social media, the passionate doctor remarked “My sincerest wish is to return and put up a fight in Malaysia. We can do better and deserve better.”
All the best on this new empowering endeavour, Dr Thanussha!
