If you’re yet to watch Vikram’s latest film, I urge you to skip this review article for the time being and come back when you’ve watched it.

With much hype for the most-anticipated movie bearing the title, Cobra – Ajay Gnanamuthu has failed to do justice to this film. Cobra is all about Vikram (Madhi) who plays a genius Mathematician role and travels across the world to commit assassinations while romancing his girl back in Chennai.

When Interpol officers involved in the investigation went ahead and nabbed him, the tale moves into various places and multiple emotions that suit his roles. But, will the officers be able to find out the mystery that took place around the murders?

Starring Chiyaan Vikram, Srinidhi Shetty, Irfan Pathan, and Roshan Mathew, the brand new film seems to have mixed reactions from the audiences.

Let’s talk about the positive note which can be found in the film.

Talking about the performances, Vikram’s terrific performance doesn’t need a special mention because whatever  role he is donning, he gives his best, and that is what he is known for. From Kasi to Mahaan, he is just a true gem in this film industry. A special mention of the brilliant assassination scenes and the theories that they have to play along in the story was unique indeed.

The director somehow tried to convey too much of information in a single movie with a duration of 3 hours but misfired to connect with the audience. A confusing screenplay tests your patience as there’s too much information that needs to be absorbed for an overwritten and thematically outdated thriller.

To be honest, a better climax would have saved the film maybe…different people have different perspectives and the writer is not stopping movie goers or Vikram fans from watching Cobra. After all, it’s sure worth the watch because of Vikram’s insane performances.

On the music front, AR Rahman has never disappointed us at any cost. Every scene in the film was heavy with Isai Puyal’s pulsating score.

With all this being said, Cobra could have done better in terms of screen play, direction, and also post-production. There was a lot of expectations for the film, as the trailer promised that the movie dealt with something new that would be interesting to watch. Let’s hope Chiyaan’s following line-up of movies with Pa Ranjith will finally bring justice to his hard work.
