The outstanding music composer AR Rahman has added another accolade under his hat.
AR Rahman merrily shared a piece of big news to his fans through his social media few days ago, unveiling that the city of Markham in Ontario, Canada has honoured him by naming a street after him.
He who just successfully completed 3 decades in this music industry as a music director, expressed his gratitude wholeheartedly with a speech during the inauguration ceremony.

The multiple award-winning musician further explained the deep meaning of his name, “The name AR Rahman is not mine. It means merciful. The merciful is the quality of the common God we all have and one can only be the servant of the merciful,” emphasising that may the name bring peace, prosperity, happiness and health to all the people living in Canada.
Continuing to extend his indebted gratitude, the composer said “I want to thank my brothers and sisters of India for all the love. All the creative people who worked with me, who gave me the inspiration to rise up and celebrate hundred years of cinema; with all the legends included. I am a very small drop in the ocean,”
“I feel like this gives me immense responsibility to do much more and be inspiring, not to get so tired and not to retire yet,” he wrapped noting that even if he gets tired he’ll remember that he has more things to do, more people to connect with, more bridges to cross.
To date, AR Rahman is the only Indian to have won two Oscar awards, which is the most for any Indian. Rahman won the ‘Best Original Song’ and ‘Best Original Score’ awards in 2009 for his composition in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
