Ah, long holidays awaits you!
After the slog of the working week has taken its toll, you could spend your glorious weeks off with your loved ones, or you could spend that time frantically bingeing the vast amounts of OTT series and flicks that you shouldn’t be missing to watch. To make your weekend way more valuable, we’ve rounded up the latest shows and movies that will ensure your precious holiday goes well.
Sita Ramam (Amazon Prime Video)
A beautiful poignant love story that is guaranteed to be tear-busting.
Set in the time frame of 1965 to 1985, the movie as the tagline says is the story of lieutenant Ram, but as Lieutenant Ram his lover Sita Lakshmi has also an equal or more significant part. Helmed by Hanu Raghavapudi, every element in the movie is mesmerising: direction, casts, music, editing, script, dialogues, and top-notch visuals.
One of the masterpieces that you should not miss to watch!
Nna, Thaan Case Kodu (Disney + Hotstar)
A reformed thief fights for justice in court.
With its narration, Nna Thaan Case Kodu draws a lesson from flicks that have steadfastly followed the unravelling of a straightforward occurrence involving a man’s life.
Penned and helmed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan, he directs a wonderful socio-political satire that the common man can identify with.
Kanam (Theatre)
Sathya’s fame Amala is back in the Kollywood industry after 30 years for Kanam.
The Shree-directed movie transports us back to the late 1990s while stirring up nostalgia. An emotion driven storyline as such is nothing new to us, but like many others, in certain situations the melodrama could be a bit much. Kanam gives you a perfect mood which allows you to enjoy some of its brilliantly written uplifting scenes, and then goes on to narrate a devastating tale about a mother and a boy. However, for the major parts of the film, the background music and acting elevate the writing and, once again, you are so enchanted by it all that you end up forgiving the minor flaws.
Emergency Declaration (Theatre)
Well-structured screenplay.
While investigating a terroristic threat that goes viral online, Korean authorities discover that a suspect has recently boarded an international flight bound for the United States. Out of nowhere a healthy and normal passenger dies a gruesome death of unknown cause, panic erupts both in-flight and on the ground. With steadily decreasing fuel and international refusals to offer aid, the captain and crew will be forced to take unprecedented emergency measures in an attempt to save the lives of their passengers.
AWE (Netflix)
Several disparate characters from different walks of life come together at a unique restaurant. Including a phony chef and an aspiring time traveller, they couldn’t be more different from one another, except for one way in which they’re all the same.
Have a great long holiday people!
