Following Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ theatrical release worldwide, the buzz around the movie has piqued interest among audiences in buying historical literature books.

Reading is the finest habit a person can develop in their life because, as the saying goes, you become what you read. Every person’s life is enriched by the presence of books.

As the saying goes, The Book Box and Jaya Bakti have finally added the special edition of Ponniyin Selvan novels, and since the movie hits the big screen, the book sales around the bookstores have rapidly increased.

Check out their latest edition below!

The Book Box:

Jaya Bakti:

Penned by the freedom fighter, nationalist writer, and journalist Kalki Krishnamurthy, Ponniyin Selvan (The son of Ponni, or the river Kaveri) was serialised in the early 1950s. Running into five volumes and with approximately 2,200 pages, the novel is a historical fiction set in the Chola dynasty with a narrative that amazes us and looks fashionable to describe as the ‘Tamil Game of Thrones’.

It deals with the life and times of Rajaraja Chozhan, set against the backdrop of tenth-century peninsular India. Interestingly, while it is widely known that Kalki’s book is not entirely factual, historians stated that the author had beautifully blended many widely known events from the pages of history into his novel. Touted to be a classic/historical Tamil literature novel, since the teaser/trailer of the movie was released, it has been praised widely for drawing out the culture and heritage through a narrative set in the Chola Kingdom.

Let’s take this opportunity to learn about our Tamil thalassocratic empire – one of the longest-ruling dynasties in world history, and share the knowledge with the upcoming generations so that they won’t miss out on one of the most important elements in the Indian culture and heritage.

Well, it’s never too late for us to grab the book and delve into the Chola Kingdom to gain some knowledge before heading to watch the movie at the nearest cinemas.

Those who are keen to purchase the epic literature book, kindly do it so at The Book Box and also Jaya Bakti at reasonable price.
