Yeshan Sarees, a local ethnic Indian fashion house, has unveiled its first flagship store in Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Featuring a rich collection of ethnic attire set against a backdrop of custom-made furniture, this store marks the first-ever physical outlet in a shopping mall for a Malaysian Indian ethnic fashion brand.
Yeshan Sarees -A brand bringing back the grandeur of India ethnic clothing.
Thoughtfully built on a passion for the timeless beauty of Indian heritage and textiles, Yeshan Sarees places special care on authenticity, to offer customers a genuine experience unlike any other.
THE SPACE: ‘THE PALACE’
Making its home on Level 2 of Pavilion Bukit Jalil, the 1,100-square-foot flagship outlet — dubbed The Palace by its founders — is fashioned after the regal majesty of traditional Indian palaces. The store was conceptualised and built by DreamDesignWorldwide (DDW), an international interior design firm featured in the New York Times.
Magnificent teak double doors draw visitors into the main space beautifully furnished with terracotta tiles, Persian silk carpets, Mughal lamps, 8ft tall peacock carved panels and an antique golden handcrafted peacock settee. Paying homage to diverse heritage, the handpainted ceiling is an evocative depiction of classic Indian icons such as the Taj Mahal and the Bengal tiger. Taking centre stage among the opulence are dazzling crystal chandeliers and an intricate hand-painting of a bridal lehenga.
Commenting on the inspiration behind the store, Yesshminni M.R. Ravindran, Director of Yeshan Sarees, enthused:
“We started Yeshan Sarees with the idea of bringing back India’s rich heritage to a wider audience. The Palace was created as an evolution to that, to be more of a cultural experience than a purchasing one; it’s an invitation for people to immerse themselves in all the beautiful traditional India has to offer. One that will allow people to come and feel at home. Sit with us, have a cup of chai and enjoy the aura. Bringing a piece of that home in the form of our sarees is just the cherry on top!”
THE WARES: PROUDLY & YESHAN SAREES
A study in symmetry, the flagship outlet opens up into two wings. The first is Yeshan Sarees, the brand’s namesake collection of ready-to-wear ethnic clothing like sarees, lehengas, and kurtis; the second is Proudly, a bespoke luxury couture line newly launched in celebration of the flagship store opening.
Proudly specialises in elegant bridal and evening wear, made with intricate embroidery and lavish embellishments inspired by ethnic Indian fashion. Using silk handloom weavings and various styles of traditional handwork such as zardozi, dabka, and kantha, Proudly is the epitome of lavish, each stitch an embodiment of exquisite artisanal craftsmanship featuring opulent Kanjivarams, intricate Banarasi Katans, eloquent handwork lehengas and more artisanal crafts.
This luxury line operates on a custom-made-to-order basis, allowing customers to personalise each piece to the finest detail whilst enjoying the delicate details of the master artisan who made the craft. This ensures that every inch is tailored to the customer’s imagination.
Speaking on the concept of Proudly, Mir Momin Parveez, CEO of Yeshan Sarees, shared:
“While there is a great convenience in being able to just get captivating sarees locally, Proudly is taking it a step further by bringing together an unbeatable combination of authenticity and individuality. Not only do we use the very best materials, woven by the most experienced weavers from India, but we also spend substantial time with each customer in our experiential store to create a wholly unique piece that embodies their personality — a true reflection of themselves and all they cherish to mark their special day in style and meaning truly. We are revolutionizing the Indian ethnic wear industry and today’s announcements are a testament to that. We will take Malaysia by storm.”
To commemorate the grand launch of both Proudly and the Yeshan Sarees store, the brand also hosted a unique local ethnic Indian fashion show featuring 12 of its high-quality ethnic Indian-inspired pieces across both brands. The fashion show featured 12 models including local fashion icons such as Priyaa Simmi, a Mrs Malaysia World 2019-2021.
Yeshan Sarees & Proudly are bootstrapped start-up brands by two best friends, Mir Momin and Yessh Ravin. Moving forward, Yeshan Sarees is looking to expand its presence across Malaysia and globally, hoping to become one of the leading brands for artisanal ethnic Indian culture wear, bringing forth some of the most trendsetting collections of dresses, sarees and lenghas.
Located at level 2 of Pavilion Bukit Jalil, the Palace store features both Yeshan Sarees and Proudly as well as over a million ringgit worth of art. To find out more about Yeshan Sarees, head over to their website HERE.
