“God always has a perfect plan!”

A budding standup comedian has recently clinched a triple win for his stellar comedic performance.

Asuraajan Sharleh, best known by his stage name, Asu, bagged three awards for Short+Sweet Malaysia 2022: Stand-Up Comedy category, winning the Best Newcomer, Best Overall Production and Audience Choice Award. Asu sweeps all those wins with his hilarious day-to-day encounters with customer relations personnel, highlighting his bank atrocities experience.

The 15th anniversary of Short+Sweet Malaysia which was held at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac) showcased a talented line-up of 22 acts who performed their craft in either stand-up comedy or song, with each act executing their short and sweet performances under 5 minutes.

The Co-Founder and Artistic Director of KLPac, Joe Hasam (OAM) congratulated Asu saying “You are such a funny person. You are probably one of the most talented stand-up individuals I have seen in a long time.”

Sharing this good news through his Instagram, Asuraajan took this opportunity to convey his heartfelt gratitude to all the pillars that made this feat come true;

First and foremost, he thanked the organizing team, supporting fellow participants and the encouraging audience for making it a memorable day.

Believe In You – Asuraajan Sharleh

As Susan L. Taylor said, “Whatever we believe about ourselves and our ability comes true for us,” this is a perfect example to relate with Asu, he achieved a triple victory and set a benchmark for himself.

Other winners of the night for the Stand-Up Comedy category include budding stand-up comedian Kishen Alex (1st Runner Up), first-time win for Short+Sweet regular Abbey Thangiah (2nd Runner Up), renowned ‘Gegar Lawak’ star Ayim Razak (Artistic Director’s Award) as well as Garu (Festival Director’s Award).
