GE15: 10 Things First Time Voters Should Know

Tomorrow is the day that the entire nations is eagerly waiting for!

19th November will mark the day where many will be coming down to the field to stamp their first vote. As a first-time voter, I’m bet you’re concerned and unsure of the do’s and don’ts of voting. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back.

These are the 10 important tips first time voters should take note:

1. Make sure to bring your IC along

Before entering your designated voting area for PRU 15 2022, make sure you have brought your IC. The officers on duty will check and verify your identity. So, this tips is the most important!

2. Wear Decent Clothes

Even though, there are no rules set regarding clothes for voting, but wear comfortable and suitable clothes because queuing and waiting for your turn to vote might take a while. So, it is recommended to wear clothes that you’re comfortable wearing.

3. Mute Your Phone

Fam,you can bring your phones to the premises of voting, but you are not allowed to use your phones during voting, and it is highly advisable to set your phone in silent/mute.

4. Do not Paint Your Nails

It is better for you to not paint your nails to avoid it getting tainted by the blue paint that will be swiped on your index finger before arriving at the voting booth. For those who have already painted your nails, kindly remove it before voting.

5. Do not wear any political logo clothes

During voting, you are not allowed to wear any clothes that is associate with political logos. If you are caught with wearing cloth or any accessories related to any candidates, you might get fine, imprisoned or both.

6. You may follow the recommended time given 

It’s recommended to attend the voting premises with the suggested time that you’ve been given to avoid massive crowd. You may check you voting time and other information here @SPR SEMAK.

7. Make sure to check your voting ballots

One of the important thing that you should take do is to check your PRU 15 2022 voting ballots. Each new voting ballots has its own serial number and certified stamp. So kindly make sure that the paper is not torn or misprinted. You may call the staff working there, if you find any issue with the voting paper.

8. Do not In or Out the voting ballots

You are not allowed to bring in or bring out voting ballots from the voting poll. Voting ballots are only supposed to be at the voting booth and if you are caught with one outside the premises, you can fine, sentenced to prison or both. So, please be careful fam. 

9. You can only use ‘X’

 ‘X’, is the only mark that is allowed  to jot on the paper. If you mark any other sign other than ‘X’, you vote will not be counted. Mark properly. 

10. Avoid hanging around the voting premises after you voted

After casting your ballot, kindly do not linger near the voting booth. After casting your ballot, you are urged to leave the area right away because poll watchers may assume that anyone hanging around the polling booth is trying to cast a second ballot.

Your votes are important in building a better Malaysia for the future. So let’s all cast our votes on November 19, 2022!
