Get Your Vacay Checklist Prepared As 2023 Is About To Bring You A Handful of Holidays

We’re done with 2022, isn’t it exciting to welcome the rabbit year this 2023? What’s even more exciting is 2023 is filled with lots of long weekends and even longer holidays. So if your holiday wasn’t enough, here is a list of upcoming ones for you to plan even more wisely and ahead. 

With the pandemic restrictions easing up and countries reopening their borders, you can now plan your next getaway. Make sure to also make quick checks on holiday destinations as the covid virus is still around. 

Flip that calendar of yours to 2023 and begin planning.

There will be eight official long weekends in 2023:

  • New Year’s Day: Saturday to Monday, 31 December to 2 January*
  • Chinese New Year: Saturday to Tuesday, 21 to 24 January*
  • Thaipusam: Saturday to Monday, 4 to 6 February
  • Hari Raya Aidilfitri: Saturday to Monday, 22 to 24 April
  • Labour Day: Saturday to Monday, 29 April to 1 May
  • Agong’s Birthday: Saturday to Monday, 3 to 5 June
  • Deepavali: Saturday to Monday, 11 to 13 November*
  • Christmas: Saturday to Monday, 23 to 25 December

2023 Public holidays 

  • May 4: Wesak Day (Thursday)
  • June 29: Hari Raya Haji (Thursday)
  • July 1: Awal Muharram (Wednesday)
  • August 31: Merdeka Day (Thursday)
  • September 28: Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (Thursday)

Not leaving out, the state-specific holidays 

  • Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya: Federal Territory Day, February 1 (Wednesday)
  • Johor: Sultan of Johor’s birthday, March 23 (Thursday)
  • Johor, Kedah, and Melaka: Awal Ramadan, March 23 (Thursday)
  • Sabah and Sarawak: Good Friday, April 7 (Friday)
  • Terengganu: Sultan of Terengganu’s Birthday, April 26 (Wednesday)
  • Perlis: Raja Perlis’ birthday, May 17 (Wednesday)
  • Pahang: Hari Hol Pahang, May 22 (Monday)
  • Labuan and Sabah: Harvest Festival, May 30 and 31 (Tuesday and Wednesday)
  • Sarawak: Hari Gawai, June 1 and 2 (Thursday and Friday)
  • Terengganu: Arafat Day, June 27 (Tuesday)
  • Penang: Georgetown World Heritage City Day, July 7 (Friday)
  • Melaka: Melaka Governor’s birthday, August 24 (Thursday)
  • Perak: Sultan of Perak’s birthday, November 3 (Friday)
  • Selangor: Sultan of Selangor’s birthday, December 11 (Monday)

Plan your annual leaves right, as this 2023 is filled with handfuls of holidays on the calendar. Well, you just don’t want to get them burned, do you?
