Ready for a New Year, New Me resolution?
Every time a new year rolls around, we often have that one long list of goals we would want to achieve. Many of us even make promises to ourselves to stay put and make constant progress on those goals. However, it’s not just about putting them on paper but carrying it out with real effort. Either way, these resolutions mean committing to creating new habits to reach your goal or ending old patterns that no longer serve you.
Here are three steps that would guide you to a fresh resolution.
Step 1: Focus on How You Will Lead
Most of the time, defining goals is about outlining your plans and objectives. These objectives pertain to your character. What do you believe in, and how do you want to present yourself to the world?
Make this year’s resolutions about your character, including what you care about most and how you will act on your values. Know yourself better before listing the values.
Step 2: Commit to Values Resolutions
Values are basic beliefs about what is most important to you. Values measure whether your life is turning out as you desire. Get a solid start to the year by determining your values or what you care about most. Write them out in your journal or wherever you record your resolutions.
Step 3: Translate Values into Principles
Once you are clear on your most significant values, you should consider how to bring them to life in the new year. When your choices match the values you desire, life will turn out even more beautiful.
Principles are your values in action
Principles will bring your values to life as it guides an individual like a moral compass. You must act on your values if you want to see results for the resolutions you have listed down.
As the new year dawns, review your values and principles. Grab a journal, start listing those resolutions, focus on your values, and make efforts to them for a better result. Good luck and have a spectacular 2023!
