It’s 2023, there’s no room for saying women can only do certain things. This is because the subject of gender equality is becoming more broadly accepted globally in recent days. We can see how women have been given limitless opportunities, and many women out there courageously take risks to go after their dreams.

With that being said, recently our lady hero Datuk Sasikala Devi, the Selangor Deputy Police Chief gracefully helmed a much-respected responsibility as the Selangor Police Chief, effective last Friday (30th December 2022).

Datuk Sasikala is now the first Indian female officer who holds a highest ranking position in the police force.

She took over the task from outgoing Selangor Police Chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed, who retires on the 2nd of January 2023. He has served the nation for over 35 years in the Royal Malaysian Police.

The handover ceremony of the post from Selangor Police Chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed to Selangor Deputy Police Chief Datuk Sasikala Devi was held on 30th December 2022 at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters, witnessed by Bukit Aman Department of Internal Security and Public Order (KDNKA) director, Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali.

She is the Deputy Director of Investigation in the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) of the Royal Malaysia Police. She has vast experience in the investigation, prosecution, legal and international liaison fields. Besides having a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, she also has an MBA, a Bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence, and a Certificate in Legal Practice.

For the past 32 years, she has served remarkably in the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID), Crime Investigation Department (CID) and Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID).

Datuk Sasikala also is well known for her bold and brave action in leading the police raid team on former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s home over the 1MDB inquiry. Furthermore, she was the first senior female officer appointed as Deputy Director of the Commercial Crime Department at Bukit Aman.

For many women around the nation, this iron lady’s triumphs serve as a huge source of inspiration. We send our warmest wishes your way!
