Kalki’s historical fiction story The Ponniyin Selvan-1 film which was released on the 30th of September 2022, has been the talk of the town for the past several months. The movie has not only enriched the Indian Chola culture but also uplifted the Tamil Cinema industry.
This blockbuster hit has recently been nominated at the 16th Asian Film Awards. The nomination was announced on 6th of January 2023, and the awards will be held on 12th of March 2023. The award ceremony will be taking place at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium in Hong Kong Palace Museum.
The film has been nominated under six categories that hold Best Film, Best Original Music, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, and Best Costume Design.

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli’s RRR was also nominated for the 16th Asian Film Awards. This film holds two categories whereby Srinivas Mohan for Best Visual Effects and Ashwin Rajashekar for Best Sound.
