The pioneers of Malaysian Tamil films keep making headlines, and their recent flight to the UAE brings an extraordinary honour to Malaysia.
Denes Kumar and TS Dr Vimala Perumal are the household names that don’t need an introduction. These Malaysian celebrities carved a new history when they both becomes the FIRST MALAYSIAN awarded ‘Golden Visa UAE’ by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government on the 17th of January 2023. (This news definitely needs to be hailed higher and louder)
The UAE Golden Visa award ceremony was held at the Abu Dhabi Immigration Headquarters which was also attended by top government officials. Interestingly, the UAE government has awarded the UAE Golden Visa separately to this renowned couple. They presented Denes in the artist category whereas Vimala in the director category.
What is Golden Visa UAE?
The Golden Visa UAE is an award to world figures, international leaders and celebrities according to criteria and regulations by the UAE government which allows the recipient to reside in the country for 10 years with various facilities. However, the UAE Golden Visa is only limited to certain groups including world-famous celebrities.
Fun fact: Among the big names who got the UAE Golden Visa award include famous celebrities and world-famous corporate members such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachan, Giorgio Armani, Ragheb Alama, Izu Ani, Najwa Karam, Reif Othman, Bonney Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Kamal Hassan and many more.

The brilliant filmmaker, Vimala Perumal expressed that she and Denes are truly humbled, and noted it is an honour to receive the Golden Visa from the UAE government.
“Our heartfelt gratitude goes to all these beautiful souls that we met throughout this journey and for making this happen Dato’ Seri @jaya1111111 , brother @nayeemmoosa & sis @chabee0983,” the 40-year-old inspiring director said.
Furthermore, she emphasized that they want to reap the benefits of this opportunity in the spirit to continue collaboration and synergy with the UAE.

TS Dr Vimala Perumal is a well-achieved director who has helmed renowned movies in the Malaysian cine world, donning multiple hats in the industry, taking her success to greater heights as the first female director in our country. She is best known for her work in the Pasanga Trilogy, a highly acclaimed series of films that have won numerous national and international awards. Vimala is also the owner and manager at Veedu Production, a renowned production house based in Malaysia, which she started along with her husband Denes Kumar. Denes Kumar is a prominent figure and actor in the Malaysian entertainment industry. This multi-award-winning producer, actor, writer, and TV host is best known for his work in Vedigundu Pasangge, Vetti Pasanga and Tamiletchumy (2020). In addition to his successful career in the film industry, Denes is also notable for hosting a number of TV shows including the National Dance show in Malaysia, Aattam 100 Vagai.
