Another excellent triumph for our young talented Malaysian.
Heerraa Ravindran, the singer-songwriter, won the “Best Female Solo Artist” for her song ‘Attention Island’ at the 6th Annual California Music Video Awards which was held in San Francisco. The Southeast Asian singer received overwhelming support from her adorning local and worldwide fans for this fan-voted award.
Making her grand debut on the red carpet, Heerraa made the 20-hour trip on her first visit to the West Coast, to attend the in-person awards in San Francisco.
The 6th Annual California Music Video Awards is spearheaded by the US-based full-spectrum media company, honoring all outstanding artists, music videos, films and directors from around the world for their excellent work. Launched a year before YouTube and the video iPod existed, TasteTV is a multi-platform media enterprise around the U.S., Canada and the world with content and programs reaching 2.5 million households.
Overjoyed with the news about her win, Heerraa credits her team back home and her fans for accomplishing this milestone.
This young lass said “Thank you so much to the California Music Video Awards for this honor. I am all the way from Malaysia and am so honored that my song, ‘Attention Island’, has received this award.”
“I am sure everyone in this room understands that it is a cumulative effort between people in the crew, the production studio and the artist to make one music video or a song successful,” the 23-year-old when accepting her award onstage.
Attention Island is the award-winning pop songwriter and vocalist’s first R&B single, a culmination of efforts from homegrown talents at ET Boost studio (the team behind the captivating visuals of the official music video) and MAP Music (the team arranged and recorded Heerraa’s heartfelt vocal performance).
“Thank you to my team and all my wonderful fans for voting for this back home in Malaysia and around the world. ‘Attention Island’ talks about the dangers of pursuing fame and the limelight if you are not anchored on who you are and not grounded on your heart. So, I am glad my music gets to reach out to the world. Thank you for giving my song a little ‘attention’,” added Heerraa, who is also currently pursuing her undergrad at Harvard University Extension School.
Passionate about her mission to change the world with music, this is the second win for Heerraa’s ‘Attention Island’, receiving “Best Music Video (Bronze)” at the Global Music Awards in San Diego last fall.
Bravo to Heerraa and her team for crafting such a beautiful track.
