Micheal Jackson’s era has no exceptions to fade away. His legacy continues to live and his music will forever be extra special. Reminiscing back on his old school songs –Did you know his black or white hit had an Indian touch in it?
Dr. Yamuna Sangarasivam is the lucky Odissi dancer that got to perform a glimpse in Micheal Jackson’s Black or white music video. How was she so lucky and get the chance?
Dr. Yamuna is a huge fan of the King of Pop. She once came across Micheal Jackson’s call for ethnic and modern dancers to audition. She immediately took this chance and went for the audition. Dr. Yamuna then received a call that she was chosen to feature in the music video along with the King of Pop. She was that lucky Odissi dancer that got the chance among the other 3000 others who made it to the auditions.
When she got the call that she’d been chosen, she happily accepted, promised to immediately get an agent, calmly hung up, and “then I just screamed!”
According to Nazareth, Dr. Yamuna and Jackson’s shooting took place in Los Angelos. The scene was shot in the mids of stunt racers’. The recording approximately took 14 hours which had the interstate roads closed as the shootinh was in progress. This occurred in 1991 when she was pursuing a master’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, in dance anthropology.
