Inspired by pioneers of science, here are young scientists with total involvement in learning to contribute and provide a better future for the world.
Meet these two young einsteins that bring to life magnificent inventions that leave many astounded. Previously they had invented a ‘PS Herbal Fit’ by using a leaf that acts as a skin-healing lotion, Click HERE to read about it. This time Suthiksha Baloo, 12, and Narashimma Naidu Baloo, 10 had come up with a mindblowing invention that has devised a way for travelers to keep their plants watered while away on long vacations.
According to New Straits Times, the duo from SK Taman Megah aimed to expand their system’s wireless connections to include Wi-Fi services. If the system works well, people will have the ability to water their plants at home from anywhere they are, even if they are abroad.
The siblings’ smart plant-watering system is also suitable to irrigate crops in small and medium-sized farms.
Their innovative invention bagged the gold medal at the Asian Innovative Science, Environmental, and Entrepreneur Fair clinching the top prize and defeating 447 participants across 20 countries. The Science fair that took place at Semarang, Indonesia was held from February 2 to February 5.
Rajeswari Narasingam, 51, mother to the siblings said her children developed an interest in innovations after they started attending classes on the Internet of Things (IoT) that was designed for young children in 2020.
“To be honest, IoT is distant to me. At first, I was concerned that my children would become bored with the technological skills taught in the courses. However, they eventually acquired confidence and enthusiasm for inventing and innovating”, said Rajeswari to New Straits Times.
Suthiksha and Narashimma have won 11 gold, three silver and four bronze medals at innovation competitions that were held virtually in India, Turkey, and Nigeria.
The mother also added that the Malaysia Innovation, Invention, and Creativity Association (MIICA) played a pivotal role in encouraging her children to promote their inventions on international platforms. During the early phases of their project, MIICA assessed Suthiksha and Narashimma’s work, provided constructive inputs, and encouraged them to create world-class innovations. As a result, some judges even commended the smart plant-watering system as ‘equivalent to a doctorate (Ph.D.) project’ that led them to win the gold medal.
Congratulations Suthiksha and Narashimma for bagging the gold place with the invention of a smart plant-watering system which is indeed the most needed device these days. These young kids are examples of nurturing and preserving a healthy environment for a better future.
