YA Datuk Nallini Pathmanathan has risen to a notch higher level in her career.
The 63-year-old Federal Court judge Nallini Pathmanathan has newly appointed as the member of the JAC (Judicial Appointments Commission) for a two-year term. She was appointed by our current Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim pursuant to Section 5(1)(e) of the JAC Act.
Her name was included in an updated list of nine commission members published on the JAC website.
With this, she becomes the First Malaysian Indian Woman to ascend in Malaysia’s Highest Court.
Nallini took over Zabidin Diah’s place as an appointed member of the JAC following his appointment as Chief Judge of Malaya on the 17th January 2023.
Nallini Pathmanathan holds a degree in Physiology from the University of London and undertook the conversion course in law, prior to being called to the English Bar in 1984. She then joined a legal firm, Skrine, in Kuala Lumpur and practiced at the Bar for 21 years before being appointed a judge of the superior judiciary in 2007. She was elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2014, and the Federal Court in 2018. Apart from this, Nallini is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as well as a certified mediator.
