South Indian actor Dhanush made an official announcement on Twitter that the shooting of Maari 2 has begun.
Maari 2, which will be directed by filmmaker Balaji Mohan, is a sequel to Dhanush’s 2015 gangster movie, Maari. Maari follows the story of a gangster who is also a pigeon trainer – who extorts money from people in the area along with two other men from his gang.
Actress Sai Pallavi, who is best known for her work in Premam, will be playing the female lead in Maari 2. Robo Shankar and Vinod will reprise their roles as Maari’s sidekick in the film.

Music scores for the film has been left in the good hands of the renowned Yuvan Shankar Raja. Meanwhile, legendary musician Ilaiyaraaja will apparently be singing one of the songs in Maari 2.
