Malaysian government initiated IPTA My 1st Choice program to promote polytechnics, encouraging students to choose polytechnic pathways for higher education, and has succeeded.

Polytechnics provide hands-on experience and practical knowledge that prepare students to enter the workforce with greater confidence and proficiency.

Parkkavi Manivanan is one such example of a student who has benefited from the IPTA My 1st Choice program. She pursued her diploma in accountancy at Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah and is currently pursuing her degree in International Business at University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).

UniMAP comes under the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) which usually absorbs polytechnic graduates providing them stronger fundamentals to fit into industrial needs.

With her strong foundation from polytechnics, Parkkavi has become a skilled and talented individual, who is now shortlisted to be the Maybank Student Ambassador for this year.

Undergraduates can use the Maybank student ambassador program to enhance their leadership and communication skills while motivating other students to participate in representing their varsity. Being a brand ambassador helps one to build cohesive personal branding and increase employability and marketability in the industry.

Parkkavi’s achievement is a proud moment for the IPTA My 1st Choice program and the polytechnic education system in Malaysia.

Her success story serves as an inspiration for other students to choose the polytechnic pathway for their higher education and create a strong foundation for their future career growth.
