Ananda Krishnan & G.Gnanalingam Entered Into Forbes’ 2023 World’s Billionaires List

Recently, Forbes unveiled the World’s Billionaires 2023 list, featuring over 2500 billionaires from all around the world. The list comprised billionaires from different industries, classifying them into groups according to their net worth, which was determined by taking into account the stocks they owned and exchange rates on March 10.

Amazingly, 18 Malaysian billionaires have been named to the list, and two Malaysian Indians have ranked in as well.

Malaysian entries are led by Robert Kuok, ranking at #146 with a net worth of USD11.8 billion. The second Malaysian is Robert Kuok, the co-founder of Hong Leong Bank, Quek Leng Chan, at #179 with a net worth of USD10.1 billion, followed by Tan Sri Tatparanandam Ananda Krishnan

Tan Sri Tatparanandam Ananda Krishnan holds the rank with a net worth of USD5.2 billion. The 85-year-old former oil trader remains one of Malaysia’s wealthiest businessmen through his private vehicle Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd, which owns many major companies in the country as well as globally. His holdings include stakes in telecom outfit Maxis, media firm Astro Malaysia Holdings and oilfield services provider Bumi Armada.

Tan Sri Datuk G Gnanalingam holds the rank with a net worth of USD1.5 billion. Pioneering in logistics industry, the executive chairman of Westports Holdings Bhd , G. Gnanalingam is also known as the country’s first homegrown marketing guru for steering his company to become Asia’s leading cargo and freight player. Co-founded with Ahmayuddin bin Ahmad on securing the concession in 1994, the group owns a 60-year concession to operate and expand its container terminals in Pulau Indah and Port Klang, which will end in 2054. Westports is one of three main port operators in the Strait of Malacca. His son, Ruben Emir Gnanalingam, is Westports’ group managing director. He is also known as the country’s first homegrown marketing guru for steering his company to become Asia’s leading cargo and freight player.

13. Lillyn Teh Li Hua (USD1.3 billion)
14. Lillian Teh Li Ming (USD1.3 billion)
15. William Teh Li Pang (USD1.3 billion)
16. Diana Teh Li Shing (USD1.3 billion)
17. Jeffrey Cheah (USD1.2 billion)
18. Tan Yu Yeh (USD1.1 billion)

Head of the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) empire, Bernard Arnault and his family, followed by Elon Musk from Tesla and SpaceX, and Jeff Bezos from Amazon took the top three ranking this year in this Forbes’ 2023 World’s Billionaires List.
