Moviethon: New Releases To Watch In Theatres This Weekend

Over the next few days, let’s enjoy some entertaining movies to kick off the new year and commemorate this auspicious birth month.

Not one or two movies, but there are NINE movies to watch!

Here we’ve curated the list of films that has been released and gracing the big screen now. Check it out! 

Rudhran

Starring Raghava Lawrence, Priya Bhavani Shankar in the main lead roles, Rudhran is an action thriller movie directed by Kathiresan. The story revolves Rudhran who tries to repay the loan borrowed by his father. Rudhran’s family faces serious problems from Boomi’s (Sarath Kumar) gangster. What happened to his family the crux of the film that we can uncover by watching it on the big screen.

Shaakuntalam

Led by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, this mythological drama film written and directed by Gunasekhar. When Shakuntala, daughter of mage Vishwamitra and nymph Meneka, meets King Dushyant, the two fall in love and get married. They have a child, but Dushyant forgets all about Shakuntala due to a sage’s curse, until destiny brings them together again.<>

Soppana Sundari 

Soppana Sundari revolves around a middle class girl who lives with her mother and mute sister. Suddenly, they win a well-worthy car in a raffle draw. What will happen when someone claiming to be the actual winner of the raffle draw shows up?

Pathu Thala 

After a high-ranking official goes missing, an undercover cop (Gautham Karthik) sets out to track down a notorious gangster (STR) in Nagercoil but learns that not everything is as it seems.<>

Viduthalai (Part 1)

A freshly hired police policeman named Kumaresan is tasked with bringing food to police officers stationed in the “red” districts who are looking for the most sought terrorist, “Mentor” Perumal. Will Kumaresan succeed in apprehending Perumal and rescuing his lady love?<>

Dasara 

Dasara is a period-action drama movie written and directed by Srikanth Odela. The movie casts Nani and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles along with Samuthirakani, Dheekshith Shetty, Shine Tom Chacko, Sai Kumar, Shamna Kasim, Sajol Chowdhury, and many others seen in supporting roles. Dharani (Nani), Surya (Dixit Shetty), and Vennela (Keerthi Suresh) are close friends, who are swaying under the influence of alcohol in Veerlapalli, a town in Karimnagar district. The love of Dharani for Surya, which is greater than his own life, is so strong that he kills his love for Vennela for the sake of friendship and sacrifices himself for his friend. There is a dispute between the Panchayat Sarpanch of Veerlapalli, Chinna Nambi (Chacko), and Rajanna (Saikumar), who has contested for the post of Sarpanch, in Veerlapalli. Due to the politics of the village, Dharani and Surya are attacked.

Gumraah 

Gumraah is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language crime thriller film directed by Vardhan Ketkar and produced by T-Series Films and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. The film stars Aditya Roy Kapur, in a dual role along with Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy. It is a remake of the 2019 Tamil film Thadam. The murder investigation of a young man , takes an unexpected turn when the cops discover that the prime suspect has a lookalike.<>

Ram Asur 

Ram Asur is a 2021 Indian Telugu-language sci-fi drama film written and directed by Venkatesh Triparna. The film’s story is said to be set in two different eras: one is story set in 1989 while the other that runs concurrently is set in 2020. What’s the connection between these two stories and the reason behind it forms the main plot of the movie.
