A toddler’s mother is pleading for an answer over her son’s unfortunate death.
Nilaveni has accused her four-year-old son’s kindergarten of being careless in caring for her son on his first day there, when he fell into a swimming pool next door, causing his passing six days later.
Six days after the incident at 10.30am on April 23, V Thanes Nair passed away.
The 40-year-old mother said that the kindergarten had not yet provided an explanation for why her son was discovered unconscious in the adult swimming pool on April 17.
Nilaveni said that it was her son’s first day of kindergarten trial class.
“I wasn’t notified that my son had fallen down until he got to the Chemor clinic,” she said, emphasising that she wasn’t informed that her child had actually fallen into a swimming pool. The parents were unaware that the premises next door had a swimming pool.
She said that when her son was eventually taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, he was already in a critical condition. The disappointed mother further claimed that her son was not immediately sent by ambulance for treatment, and the kindergarten neglected to watch over and care for him.
“How did my son, who was supposed to be under supervision, get to the swimming pool area?” – Nilaveni
Nilaveni now urges the authorities to look into what happened to her son that day. On April 18, Nilaveni and her husband, V Vijay, lodged a police report a day after the incident.
On the other hand, the kindergarten, Kinder Labz, said in a statement that the management and staff were working together with authorities.
“We can confirm that Thanes was attending a trial class at our school when the tragedy took place at about 10am. We have given our statements and provided all existing evidence, including CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage to the authorities to facilitate investigations into the matter,” it said.
Also, Ipoh district police chief Yahaya Hassan reported that the boy’s mother had not informed them that he was autistic. He said the nursery’s principal had that the mother had not submitted a letter certifying the boy’s autism.
Upon discovering the kid was unconscious in the swimming pool next door, the staff have performed CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on him before bringing him to the hospital.
Yahaya claimed that the boy’s drowning had caused multiorgan failure and brain impairment due to a lack of blood supply. The case is being investigated as one of negligence under the Child Act.
