Last year, director Mani Ratnam presented the world, the resurgence of the Chola Dynasty through a film titled “Ponniyin Selvan -1” which turned out to be a huge blockbuster hit.
This historical drama film left a huge cliffhanger towards the end of the PS-1 film, and now it is set to mark its comeback on April 28 worldwide. The official trailer of Ponniyin Selvan 2 has sparked a lot of speculations and excitement among movie buffs.
With the second sequel dropping really soon to the big screen, here are FIVE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH THE CONTINUATION OF PONNIYIN SELVAN -1.
1. Who is Oomai Rani?
We only get a slight glimpse of Oomai Rani in the first sequel, whereas in the trailer that was released a few weeks ago, we can see that Oomai Rani’s role holds significant importance in the movie, which could lead to more revelations. Who is Oomai Rani? Why does she look like Nandhini? How is she connected to Sundara Cholan? The answers to all of these questions are in PS-2.
2. What is the next move of Arulmozhi Varman?
Arunmozhi Varman and Vandiyadevan, who are presumed dead, are seen alive in the PS-2 trailer, and they were likely saved by Oomai Rani. In a scene, he was also seen doing some spectacular stunts. Well, upon defeating the horrendous death, what is the next move for Arunmozhi Varman? Will he be sailing back to Thanjavur to claim his throne? How about this marriage with Vaanathi? All will be wrecked in this PS-2 movie.

3. Will the political war headed by Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar and the clan succeed?
In the second sequel’s trailer, Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar and his clan are brainwashing Aditha Karikalan to break the empire built by the Cholas into two. Following that, Aditha was seen talking furiously, noting that “Chola nattai piraithu kudekai vendum, Chola nattai piraikai vendum…” Does this indicate that this ruthless king fell into the trap set by Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar and his clans?
4. Can Nandhini avenge her revenge on Aditha Karikalan? And also the most anticipated encounter between Nandhini and Aditha Karikalan.
The vengeful beauty in this film, Nandhini, is all geared up to end Aditha Karikalan’s life and destroy the Chola dynasty. What is the real reason behind the revenge? Is it because Aditha beheaded Veerapandiyan, her love interest, or could there be more reasons for her vengeance towards the Cholas?
In addition, the interaction between Nandhini and Aditha Karikalan is one of the most eagerly anticipated encounters in this second sequel. The unrequited love scene is definitely going to be one of the stellar moments of this film.
5. How will Mani Ratnam be able to wrap up the 2000-page novel in this second sequel?
In this second installment of the movie, there are a lot of cliffhangers to be resolved, compared to part 1, where there was only a small peek at each scene. It seems like there are too many happenings to be concluded in this upcoming sequel. The main question is: can Mani Ratnam wrap up this magnificent epic drama novel in just 2 hours and 37 minutes?
