The Indonesian government has extended an offer of citizenship to Muhammad Dharma Raj Abdullah, the former head coach of the national women’s hockey team and current technical director of the Indonesian national hockey team since 2021.

The neighboring country exceptionally valued Dharma Raj’s contribution to the growth of hockey in Indonesia and offered him for Indonesian citizenship. Dharma Raj received the offer so that he could keep working closely to advance both men’s and women’s hockey in Indonesia.

However, when Dharma Raj brought up this offer to his family, his wife and kids declined it because they preferred to remain Malaysians and as it simply takes two hours to fly from Malaysia to Indonesia.

According to Dharma Raj, the love from his fellow Indonesian hockey family has left him speechless. He claimed that he feels like a king because of the respect that the Indonesian hockey community has shown him.

The performance of the Indonesian hockey team has significantly increased after he was assigned to the position.
