14 Awards in 2 International Cinefests Brought Home by Malaysian Tamil Short Film Vidwan!

What a pride to the Malaysian cine industry! Our very own Malaysian Tamil short film has bagged 14 awards in 2 International Cinefests!

Malaysian Tamil Short Film Vidwan, written and directed by Yuvan Raj Ganesan has achieved a significant achievement by winning accolades at international cinefests awards. The success of this short film has been announced on the Instagram pages of Ganesanthira Productions and Genesis Visuals.

Virgin Spring Cinefest and Tamizhagam International Film Festival has acknowledged this exceptional short film and done them proud by honouring the short film’s filmmaking crew with prestigious awards.

Virgin Spring Cinefest is a recurring monthly event that features independent art-house films from throughout the globe. Vidwan’s team was successful in winning 5 Gold Awards and 2 Silver Awards  at the Virgin Spring Cinefest which took place in February. Vishvek who played the role of Ravanan in this short film, won two Gold Awards in the categories of Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. The Gold Awards for Best Supporting Actress went to Karthiga who played the role Madhavi. Dineshwaran the short film’s editor, won the Gold Award for Best Editor, while Ajay Sarvess received another Gold Award for Best Music Score. Yuvan Raj the director and writer of the film, has won two Silver Awards in the categories of Critics’ Choice Award and Best Director Outstanding Achievement Award.

Tamizhagam International Film Festival highlights the best Tamil films made by international directors and exposes fresh faces from around the globe in an effort to identify films of exceptional quality and ambition and to support the filmmakers in realizing their goals. The Vidwan team received 7 honours as a result of the March 2023 film festival awards.  Devaaprasanth and Naachiya who played supporting roles in this short film, each earned an award for their performances, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. This film festival has once again honoured the editor by giving him the Best Editor award. The music backbone of this film, Ajay Sarvess have been recognized as the Best Music Director. For their creative effort, Willie Boy Entertainment received the Best Sound Designer Award. For his outstanding effort on this short film, director  Yuvan Raj have bagged the Best Debut Director and Best Debut Short Film.

This short film premiered at Pawagam Mini P.Ramlee Finas on April 15, 2023. The short film’s crew received many kind wishes from audience members who were moved by it. If you want to accompany Ravanan on his musical adventure, you must watch this short film!
