Sharmendran And M.Thinaah Awarded As The Best Sportsman And Sportswoman In 2021 – 2022

R. Sharmendran and M. Thinaah received the honour of being crowned Selangor Sportsmen and Sportswomen for 2021–2022.

At the Selangor Sports Awards ceremony held at the Perak Jubilee Hall, Sultan Abdul Shah, the two athletes received a cash prize of RM10,000, a trophy, and a certificate each.

It was the first award Sharmendran had won in his ten-year sports career, and he told reporters at the ceremony that it would motivate him to keep winning more in the future.

He added these details to his Instagram post:

Thank you to @msnselangor for choosing me as the best Sportsman in 2021-2022. Thank you for the acknowledgement and recognition I greatly appreciate the compliment.

Congratulations to my fellow Selangorain athletes that won this award. Never forget Selangor State Government for being so kind to the state’s athletes and appreciating their excellence.

I would like to Congratulate @thinaah_m for winning Olahragawati (Sportswoman) along my side.

Thinaah was unable to attend because she was preparing for the Singapore Open 2023 the following week and was represented by her father, S. Muralitharan

I would like to express my appreciation to the Selangor State Government & also the Selangor State Sports Council @mnselangor for the Selangor Sportswoman Award 2021-2022.

Sorry for not being able to attend the Selangor State Sports Awards (ASNS) because I am currently in Singapore for the Singapore Open Championship.

Thanks also to my parents who always support & attend on my behalf at ASNS.

This award means a lot to me.
