Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are two superstars who have created their own names not just in Indian cinema but in global cinema as a whole. Amitabh’s acting needs no introduction with his astounding work in Silsila (1981), Agneepath (1990), Piku (2015), and many more. He is a performing artist who has nearly perfected the craft of acting. As time has gone by, only richness, subtilty, and intense nuance have been added to his every movement on screen. And Rajinikanth does not lag behind this legacy. Both Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are each other’s contemporaries. Rajinikanth’s most substantial roles are arguably those he did before he became a superstar. It was Mullum Malarum (1978), Pathinaru Vayathinile (1977), Johnny (1980), and Aval Appadithaan (1978) that showed the world the true creative range of Rajinikanth. These two stars have both worked their way to international acclaim and millions of fans around the world are devoted to their craft.
After 32 years, the two colossal stars are being said to share a screen in an upcoming film under Jai Bheem’s TJ Gnanavel’s direction. The film’s title has not been released yet, so for the time being, it is being called Thalaivar 170 as it is the 170th Rajinikanth film. And sources state that this will not be a small cameo role but that the Bollywood Superstar will have a significant role in this Rajni film.
They both first shared a screen in the 1983 film Andhaa Kaanoon and proceeded to work together in Geraftaar, and Kochadaiyaan. The 1991 Bollywood film Hum, which starred both Amitabh and Rajni was a catalyst for igniting the iconic gangster role of Baashha for Rajinikanth.
Thank you so much Rajini for being with me and being an incredible source of inspiration. Such a humble human being. Came up from such humble beginnings. It is incredible that we have him here with us today, inspiring us every day and night.
