Malaysia Saiva Samaya Peravai is a well known organization in Malaysia that practices Saivism and devotes itself to Lord Shiva. Athisangkarar has given us six ways on which we could choose to pray which is called as Shanmatham. Shanmatham stands for 6 groups or society. They are Saivism, Vaishnavism, Gaanapathyam, Sauram, Kaumaram, and Saktham. Saivism is the group of people who pray to Lord Shiva, Vaishnavism prays to Krishna, Gaanapathyam are those who pray to Ganesha, Sauram includes those who are praying to the Sun, Kaumaram is the group who prays to Murugan and lastly Saktham are the group of people who prays to Sakthi. Hence, Malaysia Saiva Samaiya Peravai prioritizes lord Shiva. They have been established since 2011.

The first inaugural meeting of Malaysia Saiva Samaya Peravai was arranged in 2001. Representatives from several Saiva Organisations in Kuala Lumpur attended this meeting and agreed that a special body to represent all Saiva organisations is necessary. As a result of various conferences and discussions about policy and initiatives, Malaysia Saiva Samaya Peravai was registered in 2011. The initiative to establish Saiva Samaya Peravai was initiated by Dr. Nagappan Arumugam in collaboration with numerous other Saiva enthusiasts. Dr. Nagappan is well educated in the field of Saiva Siddhantha. Saiva Siddhantha is known as South Indian religious and philosophical system in which Lord Shiva is regarded as the supreme deity. Siddhantha is defined as knowledge. So, Saiva Siddhantha could be considered as the knowledge of Lord Shiva and Saivism.

The main objective of Malaysia Saiva Samaya Peravai is to enlighten the society about the importance of worshipping Lord Shiva and sharing knowledge on Saivism. Most of the people in our society have a belief that a person should connect to Lord Shiva only when they are nearing to death and or they have already passed away. This is a wrong practice. Lord Shiva is the almighty who protects us and guides us. When a person has passed away, the family members will  pray to Lord Shiva. There is no proper religious education provided to the current generation. They are growing without the knowledge of spirituality which brings them to a good path. Hence, Malaysia Saiva Samaya Peravai is also conducting online and physical Saiva Siddhantha classes in order to spread the wisdom of Saivism.

They also aim to empower young through seminars and training sessions. They are also publishing monthly magazines on Saivism. There is a magazine by the name of ‘Sivanarul’. It is published every month and sold for RM2 each. They are providing postage service with additional charges for postage fee. The magazines consists of information and facts about Saivism, Thirumurai and many other useful messages which gives us more knowledge. Another objective of  Malaysia Saiva Samaya Peravai is to organise classes, seminars, contests and festivities with the aim of spreading Thirumurai.

Currently, they have come up with a project based on this initiative. They are organising the 6th World Saiva Conference on the 29th and 30th July 2023 at Nilai University. The first day of the conference will start at 8am and will be going on till 6pm, then the next day it will start at 8am and will finish at 4pm. The conference fee is RM12O for the two days.  Theme of the conference is ‘En kadan pani seithu kidappathe’ which translates as ‘my duty is to keep serving’.

These lines were told by Thirunavukkarasar, who is better known as Appar among the 63 Naayanmars. It is defined as serving the people and also serving God without any expectations. Its known as always being in divine mindset, doing things related to God and religion. This theme will be explained in detail and discussed further during the conference. The conference will include many interesting and fruitful segments. There will be a talk, book publishing, research based forum and a Thirumurai recital group performance, and many more activities.

It would be worth our penny as we will gain more useful information. Religious knowledge and spirituality is equally important for our society especially for the young generation so that they will be on the right path. A person who has spiritual knowledge and belief, will never get influenced by bad or unwanted attractions. Furthermore, it is our duty for us to learn about our religion and praters. Hence, all of us could take up this opportunity as our first step. Let’s learn together.
