“I have already seen Rajan Vagaiyara and it is an exciting film. I would say it is even better than Vada Chennai. One should ask Vetrimaaran to release it soon, it would be superb,”
– Santosh Narayanan, in an interview on Thirukumaran Entertainment
In a recent interview, Santosh Narayanan, the esteemed music director of films like Vada Chennai, Karnan, Meyadha Maan, and Sarpatta Parambarai, revealed some interesting information about Vetrimaaran’s Rajan Vaigayara. The film, which is based on the life of Rajan (played by Ameer), a pivotal character in Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai, is a prequel exploring the life of the young character through the ages of 15 to 24. According to a Vikatan source, Ken Karunas had been chosen to play the reprisal role of young Rajan. The film is apparently 2 hours long.
In the interview with Thirukumaran Entertainment, the acclaimed music director, Santosh Narayanan, goes in-depth on his career. He discusses the times when he was too poor to afford food, all the comedic chaos that went down in his first film, Uyir Mozhi, and more stories about his failures and successes. He gives a wonderful insight into his work and the inner workings of his creative process, saying how sometimes he likes to make his music intentionally raw and unedited so it retains the grit of its originality.
Vetrimaaran has produced phenomenal works in Tamil cinema, from Polladhavan to Aadukalam to Vada Chennai. His recent masterpiece, Viduthalai Part 1, has garnered a lot of critical reception for both his directorial execution and Soori’s performance. Vetrimaaran has not revealed any updates on Rajan Vagaiyara or Vada Chennai 2. He is currently filming for Viduthalai Part 2, which is said to be released by the end of this year.
