Father’s Day is an opportunity for us to show our love, gratitude, and admiration for the fathers who have had a significant role in shaping us. It’s a day to honour dads everywhere, whether they are young or old, single or partnered, new to the job or seasoned like a favourite cast iron skillet. They could be a stay-at-home dad or the primary breadwinner. They could be your own dad, your kid’s dad, a dad who has passed away, or anyone in your life who plays that role for you.
A father’s love nurtures and guards his children as they navigate the world from the moment they are born. Their unconditional, selfless love offers an unrivalled sense of safety and comfort. Fathers are the constant in our lives who reassures us, instills in us the value of love, and shows us how to give and receive.
Here is my heartfelt wish for my dear Dad:
Thank you for always saying yes whenever Amma (MOM) says no. You have taught me a lot, and I’ll keep learning forever, Dad. I still recall how, when I was in school, I used to cry to you and say, “Appa, I ruined this drawing.” You eventually brought me to my senses and changed the drawing in such a lovely way that it made me smile. I received good grades on my projects as a result of your help.
I had no idea how to cross the street until now, and you always come to my rescue. I feel proud for identifying you as my dad when a total stranger approached me and said, “Your dad is such a good, kind person; make him proud.” You have always been my inspiration and support system. Your fortitude, sage advice, and kindness motivates me every day. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done for our family on this special day. Dad, Happy Father’s Day! Your efforts and sacrifices are never in vain, and I cherish you today and always.
