Father’s Day is observed annually to honour the contribution that fathers and other father figures make to their children’s lives. This day honours fathers and father figures. A father’s role is irreplaceable in our lives. There is a popular phrase saying that ‘Mother carried a child in her womb for 10 months, but father carries the child forever in his heart’. This phrase clearly shows the love of a father towards his child. At sometimes father’s sacrifice and love could not be seen. But fathers are capable of sacrificing anything in this world for their children. Mostly fathers look strict in perspective of every child. But we should realise that as a father and head of the family he has to wear the fake mask to look strict in order to shape their child and raise them through the right path as a person who is respected by the society. This is why father is considered as the first teacher in our life. a child who has a strict father will appreciate their father’s firm hand in raising them up once they are living a better life in the future. Without their father’s guidance, they would not have a proper life and education.
The History of Father’s Day Celebration
Sonora In 1882, Louise Smart Dodd was born. She was the daughter of William Jackson Smart, a veteran of the American Civil War. She was 16 when her mother passed away. She and her five brothers were brought up by their father. Sonora had the realisation that no one observed Father’s Day as she was listening to a speech in church on Mother’s Day. Hence, Sonora followed forward with the plan to honour fathers all across the world by designating June 5, her father’s birthday, as Father’s Day. The initiative was celebrated by everyone.
Father’s Day was observed on the third Sunday in June beginning in 1966 at the initiative of President Lyndon Johnson. The third Sunday in June was formally designated as Father’s Day by President Richard Nixon in 1972, and through time, it began to be observed in other nations as well.
