The incredibly talented Shabeer Kallarakkal who has risen to exceptional fame with his astounding performance as Dancing Rose on Pa. Ranjith’s critically acclaimed Sarpatta Parambarai, is currently working on a film alongside Dulquer Salmaan. Titled King of Kotha, the film will be Shabeer’s debut in Malayalam cinema. Although a Kerala native himself, Shabeer had begun his acting career in Tamil cinema; his first film was an uncredited role in Mani Ratnam’s Aayutha Ezhuthu.
On working with Dulquer, a well-known actor himself, Shabeer says he feels absolutely at ease with him. The Sarpatta Parambarai star, shares how Dulquer is a very collaborative and respectful actor who values Shabeer’s acting opinion. He states that Dulquer asks for his input on how he would like a scene to be done. That humbling experience was very bewildering to Shabeer because Dulquer is a huge star who doesn’t need to be this nice to supporting actors. Yet that kindness and artistic sportsmanship made Shabeer feel like he was acting with one of his theatre group actors.
Shabeer further states that Dulquer had wanted a Pan-Indian cast so the film would have a wider reach. The planning of Dulquer’s film coincided with the roaring success of Sarpatta Parambarai, which starred Shabeer’s incredibly unforgettable performance as Dancing Rose. That was the performance that caught Dulquer’s eye, and from that, the team made quick plans to get Shabeer on board with this interesting project. The film features an incredibly talented ensemble cast of Prasanna, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nyla Usha, Chemban Vinod, Gokul Suresh, Shammi Thilakan, Shanthi Krishna, Vada Chennai Saran, and Anikha Surendran.
