Over the past week, Will Smith posted a series of photos and videos of his recent trip to India. He mentioned that his visit ‘awakened a new understanding’ of himself. He uploaded a series of photos of him performing the Ganga Aarthi in an ashram in ancient city of Haridwar.
The Ganga Aarthi is a form of prayer to the holy River Ganges. Millions of people visit the river every year to perform this Aarthi as a way to wash out the sins of the living and dead.
In that photo, he captioned; “ My Grandmother used to say, “God Teaches through Experience”. Traveling to India & Experiencing the colors, people and natural beauty has awakened a new understanding of myself, my Art & the Truths of the world.”
He also hung out with Bollywood’s most energetic person, Ranveer Singh and cracks up a couple of dance moves. Where there is Ranveer, there is always some dance and music. He took it to the next level by riding a tuk tuk around.
In his Facebook Watch Show, he mentions that he has always loved India. “ India is just a beautiful culture. The colours, the music, the intersection of religion and cinema … everything about this culture just speaks to my personality. India has always had this otherworldly pull on me.”
Will Smith’s next film is with Guy Ritchie’s upcoming live action Aladdin remake.
