The much-awaited Karthik Subbaraj’s second installation of his Jigarthanda film, Jigarthanda Doube X, is coming to cinemas this Diwali. The film is set to be based around a story set in the 1960s and 1970s, and from the looks of the teaser, it seems to be a heavily American old western-inspired film. Karthik Subbaraj has brought on board Santosh Narayanan as the music director for the film, promising another quirky, crazy, and fun-filled score. The two artists have previously worked together on films like Pizza, Jigarthanda, Iraivi, and Jagame Thandhiram.
This exciting film sees both Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah as titular characters. The former, who had previously worked on Karthik’s Iraivi, expressed that the vision Karthik held for Jigarthanda Double X is truly visionary and unimaginably creative. The multitalented SJ Suryah had stated that working with Karthik was truly a great opportunity as he got to witness unbelievable concepts, set design, production value, and photography. By the awestruck nature of the talented actor, it can be understood that Jigarthanda Double X is going to bring some groundbreaking cinematic visuals to Kollywood.
Jigarthanda is a cult classic film that came out in 2016 that stars Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundram, and Karunakaran in prominent roles. The quirky storyline and peculiar but comedic cast of characters made for an immensely entertaining film. The film’s impact had many stating that a new wave of Tamil cinema had emerged. Even after several years, the film has a strong fan base for its masterful storytelling and stunning visuals.
