Pranava Shanta Mohan is a bright young mind with his heart in the right place. Following the philanthropic and humanitarian path of his older brother Visaghan Shanta Mohan, who had previously conducted several charities of his own, Pranava has now taken the initiative to conduct his own fundraiser after watching the dedicated work of his brother. The A-Level student contacted the Make It Right Movement (MIRM), powered by Brickfields Asia College (BAC), who then selflessly agreed to sponsor the theatre hall for the screening of Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film ‘Barbie’. The date of the launch event is set to be the 20th of July. This incredible movement will immensely help in raising the much-needed funds to be donated to Hospice Malaysia. Their aim for this project is to raise RM13,100.00, and all proceeds will go to Hospice Malaysia.
The fundraising project has been titled The Ripple Effect in fond memory of their uncle, Mr. Jegadeva, who had received palliative care from Hospice Malaysia, and an individual who had worked endlessly on charity projects as well. He was also a man who constantly expressed how much incredible work the Hospice does for the public. The kind-hearted Pranava has shared how his brother will also accompany him during this charity project as a form of guidance. Pranava has also shared how his family has always been a pillar of support for his work; his mother, especially, has shared with him the golden advice, “Make sure to multiply the seed funding by 150%” His mother had learned that saying from Brian Lariche, Head of Community Development for the Make It Right Movement, with whom she has formed a great relationship through her many collaborations as a social entrepreneur with the organisation.
It is always great to see the future generation independently take action towards the betterment of society, and Visaghan Shanta Mohan, elder brother to Pranava, is an exemplary young person who materialises that. The 19-year-old has previously conducted three successful charity events. One of his events that took place in 2019, which was a screening of The Return of Skywalker, sponsored by Make It Right Movement (MIRM), raised a sum of RM27,500, which went entirely to Hospice Malaysia. Visaghan had also expressed that he got into charity because of the influence Uncle Jegadeva had on him. He, as well as his brother Pranava, were both greatly moved by these selfless acts of immersing oneself in altruism. The country is truly blessed to have individuals such as these two boys who put in their own time and labour into serving others. Individuals like Pranava and Visaghan give great hope for the future of humanity.
