The Malaysian Indian Entertainers Welfare Association has recently organised a Parents Day event to celebrate the great works of some of the finest veteran artists that have tirelessly contributed to the growth of the Malaysian Indian entertainment industry. The organisation has been functioning for 25 years, and this is the second year they have conducted a ceremony celebrating local veteran entertainers. The Parents Day event has previously been conducted eight times by the organisation, and this year saw yet another wonderfully conducted ceremony. The event was attended by hundreds of some of the greatest entertainers Malaysia has been graced with.
The ceremony garnered appreciation and awards for three crucially significant veteran entertainers. The first being the talented stage and TV actress, Mrs. Pushpa Devi Naathan, who was bestowed with the prestigious Manuramalingam Award. The astounding comedy actor and writer Karu Karthik was also dignified with the Senthiladeepan Award, and the Kuzhal Kuppusamy Award was bestowed on the immensely artistic musician Muthukumar.
The leader of MIEWA has expressed that the organisation will continue to dignify entertainers who have contributed to both the growth of the Tamil language and culture by conducting more ceremonies such as this on an annual basis. The previous year had also seen other veteran entertainers like A. Arulthasan, F. Narayanan, and Ayyapan honoured with prestigious and significant accolades. These types of events are immensely important for homegrown entertainers to receive the long-deserved accolades for all their dedication to the arts. It is also through events such as this that the younger generation can gain more cultural knowledge from the generation of entertainers that came before them.
